Often a Manager or Proprietor does not know where to start - the subject is so vast. To help, we have written this step by step guide called MHS-steps as one way of carrying the work out - not the only way, but the way we find easiest!
Our approach is simple.
We have provided a database for all items of Health & Safety at your workplace.
We have personalised every page with either your name or logo. The basic Safety Policy can be printed out and from this basic foundation, safe working practices, assessments, audit sheets, etc can be printed out and added to the Safety Policy as necessary.
Your Company is similar to others but not identical and so it is to be expected that some of the information, we have given you, will require alteration to suit your circumstances.
After you have examined and agreed the pages in Section 1 and Section 2 of the Safety Policy, we ask you to send a copy to us, together with a copy of your Logo. This will allow us to personalise the data with your Logo and Company Name.
All the pages in this package can be printed out - and once personalised, they will have either the Logo or name on every page.
In Step 1 you are asked to print out a Health & Safety manual. This will provide you with a H&S Document covering all the aspects of Health & Safety to be considered in your Company. Beyond these basic pages there is a database of common tasks, materials, equipment etc. This database is constantly expanding and will be expanded in future issues.
For these additional pages you will be asked to identify the item, print out the page and if necessary alter it to suit - this will show that you have considered it and are not just accepting our suggestions without thought. Keep the printed out sheets for your records - HSE/ EHO will want to see them when they visit.
Take one step at a time - start at Step 1, then go onto Step 2, then go to Step 3, etc. - take your time and plan these steps - do not try to do everything at once!!!
